Flash Link updater firmware update stuck at 1

Went to update the flash link to the newest firmware version. Update never moved past 1% after an hour and now the flash link says there was an error when doing last update and so it forces you to try again but it never gets past 1%. So now it will not connect to the evo-one to change settings.

Module Programs but car won't remote start. 2-way Fob confirms signal received.

Evo one with a compustar RF kit won't remote start but bypass programs and RF kit connects and car and 2-way fob respond to signals sent. When the car is sent a signal from the fob the lights on the car flash and the fob beeps and flashing green to indicate the signal was recieved but the car doesn't remote start. Red LED on the side of the EvoOne stays lit always. Not sure if that matters. Car is a Toyota Matrix 2005. It is wired via connection type 1 on guide #58481 and the features not shown on that diagram are not wired (i.e. Lock/unlock not shown so they are not wired. Stricktly by the books.) Double checked the wiring and all seems good to go. Interesting note: Flash link suggests i use remote start option 2.4 but the connection 1 schematic on guide #58481 indicates that 2.1 should be the correct setting. I stuck with 2.1 because 2.4 requires a start2 which is not on the schematic. Please help and thanks in advance! respectfully, Robert P.S. Car starts normally with key. P.P.S. Compustar/Firstech antenna is rewired per FirsTech evo-One Guide. http://cdn02.fortin.ca/download/25121/firstech_evo-one.pdf

Evo-Key: does a proper transponder key need to be in the ignition to drive or would a key that doesn't have a chip work?

We have a Toyota Matrix 2005 and it's transponder key only works intermitantly. I'm considering installing a tansponder bypass like this one (and maybe a remote start while i'm at it) with the hopes that it would fix this by sending a valid code to the immobilizer every time but I'm unclear how the module behaves once a key is placed in the ignition. If, for example, a key is placed in the ignition but it couldn't read a transponder code from it would it cut the engine? Could you still drive the car? Would installing a bypass potientionally solve our issue? After installing an Evo-Key/Evo-One and it is properly set up with a transponder code from a valid key, does a proper transponder key need to be in the ignition to drive the car or would a key that is cut properly but maybe doesn't have the transponder work as well?
